Worshipping in vain means wasting your time because God isn't pleased, and the people are going to hell (Matthew 7:22–23, Matt. 15:13–14; Isaiah 9:16; 2 Peter 2:1–2). Worshipping in vain does exist today and sadly, many don't even know it (Matt. 15:1–9; Mark 7:1–8; Acts 17:23). This is because of man's failure to do things as God has taught in His word. The Bible is here for us to obey and not to add or take from it in any way (Luke 6:26; Matt. 7:21, 1 Corinthians 11:1–2; 1 Peter 4:11; 2 John 8–11; Galatians 1:8–9). For example, the Bible teaches that Christ is the head of the church, yet men say the Pope is the head (Ephesians 5:23). The Bible teaches that men must worship God in spirit and in truth, yet men will say, "We can worship God as we please," John 4:24. The Bible teaches Jesus built only one true church, yet men will say, "Attend the church of your choice," (Matt. 16:18; Eph. 4:4). The Bible teaches that baptism is essential for salvation, yet men will say that it's alright to baptize babies or that you don't have to be baptized to be saved (Mark 16:16, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16, Gal. 3:27, 1 Cor. 12:13). It is totally foolish for people to argue about Jesus' skin color. It makes no difference what shade of color His skin pigment was, since the color of the skin means nothing to God (1 Samuel 16:7). Man shouldn't care what Jesus may have looked like, but we should be concerned about obeying Him (John 14:23–24). Now it is true that the body Jesus chose to have while on earth was the body of a Jew (Hebrews 10; John 4:7–9). But who can say that his skin pigment was this light or that dark? Yeah, I thought so, no one can. The same point is true concerning our Father in heaven (Ecclesiastes 5:2). Someone will say, “He is a great black God!” Another yells out, “No! He is a awesome white God!” Both are wrong! God is a spirit, and a spirit doesn't have flesh and bone and certainly has no skin color (John 4:24; Luke 24:39). In heaven, skin color doesn't exist because the physical body cannot enter into heaven (1 Corinthians 15:50–54). So, man better quit debating color and remember that this earth is God's masterpiece, and He has painted it with a diversity of colors to enhance its beauty (Genesis 1:31). It's too bad that our country has sanctioned trashy TV and radio programing, for these actions send a clear message that we as a nation enjoy trash. However, the child of God shouldn't be surprised because the Bible teaches that Satan's influence will be accepted more in this life than God's (Matthew 7:13-14; 1 Peter 4:18; John 3:19-21; 1 Corinthians 4:3-4). Everyone has the right to choose, so let the child of God continue to do things which please God and show the world that there are still people who live by the word of God (Matt. 4:4; 1 Timothy 4:6-16; 2 Tim. 3:14-17). One should never borrow something without thinking it over first (Luke 14:28; Proverbs 21:5). If the item is damaged, stolen, or lost; it has happened while in your possession. If a person is willing to be liable, however, borrowing won't be such a bad thing. In 2 Kings 6:1-7, we read of a fellow who lost the head off an ax that he had borrowed. This guy was very concerned and sought the help of the prophet Elisha, who helped get the ax head out of some water. That man had the right attitude for what he had borrowed.
