Life isn't fair and it sure isn't easy at times; for we build and then we lose what we have built and must start over again. For example, a person is seriously injured and has to rehab himself back to health. A person loses everything to a hurricane and has to begin again. A person loses a family member to death and that family has to overcome their grief and go on with their lives. None of this is easy and none of it is quick, because it takes faith, perseverance, and prayer to keep a person sane after devastation has occurred. However, the basic lessons from these virtues can be found in two Old Testament books—the story of Joseph in Genesis 37–41 and the account of the life of Job in the book of Job. These stories show men who lost what they had and then achieved it again, so read these stories and let these virtues be a part of you. This information will only help people who believe the Bible to be the word of God. So we hope to hear from you or see you at the services.
When you borrow money, you need to pay it back. It is appalling the number of people who refuse to pay up on a loan. If you owe, you owe, and you need to pay up or be considered wicked because the Bible teaches that wicked people borrow and pay not again (Psalm 37:21). It is a shame that there are people who will file fraudulent lawsuits. The courts are here to serve our needs, but it is overburdened because low down people are filing fraudulent claims (Jeremiah 6:13). Those who commit this evil are deceitful and greedy for money, and you certainly shouldn't want them in your house, car, or anywhere near you (Proverbs 1:15–19). If you have children, take care of them—they are yours and not the state's. If anyone doesn't, he is the worst of the worse (1 Timothy 5:8). "What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Vegas." This slogan is promoted by Las Vegas tourism as a city where visitors can come and engage in uninhibited pleasure, and no one back home will ever know. However, the thing that is wrong with this statement is that it simply isn't so. No matter what a person does and where he does it, God sees, and He will make it known on the day of Judgment (Proverbs 15:3, Ecclesiastes 12:13, Hebrews 4:13).
It is very dumb for anyone to go to Vegas and get drunk, gamble, snort coke, fornicate, and then come back home thinking his secret is safe. For God saith, "can a man hide himself in private and I not see him?" (Psalms 94:9, Jeremiah 23:21). The gospel preacher Paul, spoke before the leader Felix about accountability of life and the Judgment to come; and after the sermon was finished, the leader was frightened because he knew that he wasn't prepared for the Judgment (Acts 24:24–25). Being resolute is wonderful, if you are in the right; however, such is stupid if one is wrong about a matter. In order for one to be praised for holding his ground, one must be right, otherwise the Bible teaches that after many attempts of correction, a man will set himself up for destruction (Proverbs 28:14, Prov. 29:1, Numbers 14:39–45, 1 Samuel 15:23).
Have you been to church lately? It's never too late to start, so why not do so this week? We invite you to come and visit the services at the Mt. Airy church of Christ. All we do is teach the Bible, so if you want to learn the word of God, come (Isaiah 2:2–3). Lots of people are talking about their problems and such is very common to man. However, if one is a child of God, his problems can be lighter, because God will help lighten the load. But without God's help, a person is on his own and the burden can become too much. The Lord has offered to help bear burdens if many will come to him (Matthew 11:28–30). This information will only help people who believe the Bible, so we hope to hear from you or see you at the services. A President with a weak economical plan but belief in morals, is far better than a President with an appealing economical plan and no belief in morals. Know why that is? The word of God teaches that it isn't a good economical plan from the mind of man that lifts a nation, but rather the righteousness of the citizens that dwell therein (Proverbs 14:34, Prov. 11:11, Psalms 33:12).
You see, it is God, not man, who gives the wisdom which enables men to put a nation on a sound economical path with jobs and prosperity for all (Deuteronomy 28:1–68). And when a man's ways please God, He will cause his enemies to be at peace with him (Prov. 16:7). A righteous President with a sorry economical plan can be blessed by God just like the 300 soldiers that defeated the massive army of the Midianites (Judges 7:7), or the one man that chased a thousand (Joshua 23:10), or like the five loaves and two fish that fed five thousand people (Luke 9:13–17). So you see, God is willing to help a righteous leader, but He will certainly destroy an evil one (1 Samuel 12:25). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Just recently, the Vice President came forth and said what many are saying about the right of gays to marry. He said the recognizing of gay marriage should be decided by the States in which the persons live. But is that right? The answer is no! Marriage is the creation of God! The Almighty said in the Garden of Eden, "It is not good for man to be alone, I will make a helper for him," (Genesis 2:18). God then made Eve from the rib of Adam, and she became his wife (Gen. 2:21–25).
Later on, Jesus Christ affirmed "that in the beginning, God made them male and female, and what God has joined together, let not man put asunder!" (Matthew 19:4–6). So the issue has already been decided by Almighty God in Heaven, and those who attempt to tamper with the subjects He has ordained for the marriage bond are fighting against God (Acts 5:38–29, Acts. 9:5–6). To them who cry out for the states to define marriage, please remember these words: "What God has joined together, let not man put asunder." Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. With school beginning this week, students can start the school year right, by not acting like a fool during this term (Proverbs 12:23, Prov. 14:24).
Parents go though a lot to get their children in school; and the children can show appreciation by studying hard and behaving. During last year's term, many students got drunk, had sex, got into fights, used foul language, and committed all other kinds of evil behavior. Such isn't good for anyone, especially the student, because he must answer to God for the behavior (John 12:48, Ecclesiastes 12:14, 2 Corinthians 5:10, Romans 14:12). The major mistake made by students is they don't know God, because many have parents in the same condition, and that explains the way the student acts. We want to invite students to start reading the bible while their minds are young and can remember a lot (Eccl. 12:1). We would like to recommend the book of Acts as a great place to start. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Why in the world would a president try to run the country without God's help? (1 Kings 3:3–14, Psalms 33:12). How in the world can a government do well and not acknowledge the commandments of God? The answer to both questions is, it cannot be done (Proverbs 16:1–3, Prov. 20:24, Jeremiah 10:23). We have many liberal people in this country who have no respect for God's word. These people are assaulting every value that God has left for man in the Bible, and they are kicking God out of everything. They only acknowledge God at times of trouble, and God is no fool; for He laughs when people do that (Proverbs 1:24–30).
Without God in the plans, men will run a nation into the ground by departing from the Word of God and promoting all kinds of wickedness which displeases God; and He will evidently destroy that nation (Prov. 14:34, Prov. 11:11, Jonah 3:1–10, 1 Samuel 12:19–25, Deuteronomy 28:1–68). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. Do you ever greet your neighbors? Or do you wait inside your house in order to avoid your neighbors as they walk to their cars at the same time you do? Do you ignore or look the other way when your neighbors greet you? What is wrong with you? Don't you realize that you may need your neighbor's help one day? The people we avoid today, may be the people we will cry out for tomorrrow.
However, if you know that such could never happen to you, just ignore this message. In the Bible, Jesus teaches men to love their neighbors, and that meant He intends for neighbors to have a good relationship with each other (Matthew 5:43, Luke 10:29, Romans 13:9–10, Rom. 15:2, Galations 5:14, Ephesians 4:25). So stop violating the word of God and get to know your neighbors! Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. You say that you don't believe in God or the Bible as His word. Fair enough. However, what evidence did you obtain in order to lead you to the position you now hold? Secondly, will your evidence hold up against examination from those willing to refute the position you believe?
Many people will support their friends or family even if they know they are wrong. By doing so, they become partakers in the evil actions committed by those offenders. This is a bad move and no one should support wrong, whether done by friend or foe. If your friend is wrong, tell him or her and never support them in wrong doing (1 Timothy 5:22). "What God has joined together, let not man put asunder," Matthew 19:6. The Almighty has selected one male and one female for marriage, which is to last till death. We are living in times when liberal thinking people are attempting to put asunder what God has joined together. All religious leaders, better heed God's warning! (Isaiah 9:16, Jeremiah 23:22, Isa. 5:20). Hope to hear from you or see you at the services. |
