Don't Stay Away from Church

Don’t stay away from church because you are poor (There is no admission charge). Because you are rich (Money isn’t all). Because it is cold and rainy (You go other places in bad weather). Because it is hot (So is the beach and golf course).

Because no one invited you (People go lots of places uninvited).

Because of hypocrites (We have them everywhere). Because you have relatives from out of town (Bring them along). Because you have children (We offer Bible classes for them). Because you think your clothes don’t look good (God isn’t concern about that). Because you don’t like the preacher (You shouldn’t hate anyone). Because the church is always asking for money (We don’t do that here). Because you think that you have plenty of time (Life is short and uncertain). (Psalm 144:4). “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before before the Lord” (Psalm 95:6).

Your Name in the Book of Life

God has a book in which He records the names of all persons who will go to Heaven, and this is one book that you will want your name in (Luke 10:20; Philippians 4:3). In order to be written in this book, a person must obey the gospel of Jesus Christ and not only that, but remain faithful in the service of the Lord (Revelation 2:10; 2 Timothy 4:6-8; Rev. 3:5).

A person could start out right with the Lord, but fall out of favor by willfully sinning and God will blot that person’s name out of the book of life (Exodus 32:33). You don’t want that to happen to you. On the Day of Judgment, men will stand before Jesus Christ to be judged according to their works and all whose names do not appear will be cast into the everlasting lake of fire which is hell (Rev. 20:10-15).

All Men Are Sinners

All men are sinners, politicians included (Proverbs 20:9; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8-10). Years ago, while attempting to run for president, the news media really hit at candidate Newt Gingrich’ divorces, and they even claimed that he believed in open marriages, etc. Now if what the news media said was true, Newt was wrong to promote such things (Genesis 20:1-18; 1 Corinthians 7:1-4; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8; Hebrews 13:4).

But there’s an inconsistency which no one in the news media seem to catch on to. We saw the media try to defend gay marriage but not open marriage. However there is no authority in God’s word for gay marriage either (1 Peter 4:11; Gen. 2:18-25). God created one man and one woman as the subjects of marriage and warned us not to put that asunder (Gen. 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6).

Since there is no authority from God for either, both open and gay marriages fall together (2 John 8-9; Rom. 7:1-3; Matt. 15:13-14).

Errant Thoughts

“There is no God.” The mere fact that men are burning for eternity is evidence that God is because He said evil men will be punished with Hell fire and so it will be (Matthew 10:28, 25:41-46).

“I’m not interested in religion.” When suffering in Hell fire, everyone will be concerned about being religious because they now realize such was the key for their escape from damnation. However, after death it will be too late! For as one dies, so will he be at the Judgement (John 8:21-24; Hebrew 9:27).

“I know I’m going to Hell.” When alive, men took Hell lightly by making such statements as if it were all a game. But once the reality of eternal suffering begins, men will be saying, “Why didn’t I change my life when I had the chance?” (Luke 16:27-28).

“No suffering in Hell.” There will be no Jehovah’s Witnesses teaching this false doctrine because all who will be there will indeed feel the pain (Matt. 13:38-42; Mark 9:43-48).

Public Office Holders Should Ask for Help from God

A man of faith running for public office is often targeted with questions pertaining to his beliefs and how such will affect his job performance. First of all, anyone running for public office would be insane to refuse help from God (1 Kings 9:2-7). But understand this, God is only going to help those who are faithful to Him (Psalm 34:8-17). So, if a President desires help from God, he must be doing what is pleasing to God. There is no way God will bless a President who is passing laws that are in conflict with His word (Proverbs 14:34, 11:11; Psalm 33:10-22; 1 Kings 15:25-26, 16:29-34).

If homosexuality, abortion, and state lotteries are contrary to the laws of God, then no person of faith serving in public office can be in favor of such. A man of faith is to live what he knows is right to God (2 Chronicles 26:3-5). Also the President will have the best interest of the nation in mind if he vetoes bills that establish sinful practices (2 Kings 18:1-8). Our nation is supposed to be a Christian founded upon religious principles. So why do we get angry and suspicious of a person with morals? Could it be most of us have none?

Action Defines A Christian

There is no such thing as “conservative” or “liberal” Christian. Simply put, one is a Christian, or he isn’t. There is no emphasis or attachment to the word “Christian.”

Study your Bibles, look at the three times the word appears in the scripture (Acts 11:26, 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16). If the word conservative fits the description revealed in the word of God about the character of the Christian, then of course his life will represent that kind of action. It is to be expected, but we don’t attach the virtues that every Christian is suppose to have, to the word itself. For example, we wouldn’t say “wet rain.” Naturally rain is water, and of course it will be wet. So if the virtue of a Christian is being reserved, then of course that will be the fruit the person will bear.

Another example is that Christians don’t fornicate or use profanity.

These are the virtues of God’s word that teach them not to behave in such a manner. The term, “fornicating Christian” doesn’t exist.

A fornicator isn’t a Christian. One is either a Christian or he isn’t. One is either faithful, or he is unfaithful (Luke 6:43-45).

Just Doesn't Make Sense

Certain things just don’t make sense. How can a woman say she loves children and support abortion? God teaches life in the womb is human at conception, for the Bible described persons (Job 3:3,11-19; Psalm 139:13-16; Galatians 1:15; Jeremiah 1:5, 20:18.

Here’s another one that makes no sense. How can a person believe in flying saucers and not believe in God? The evidence that God exists is all around us and cannot be denied. Look at the earth, the sky, the seasons, the complex human body. All these things couldn’t exist without a creator. For even a drinking straw is evidence of a creator.

There is no evidence of flying saucers—only men who claim to have seen them or some blurred photo. The works of God’s hands are clearly seen day and night (Romans 1:18-20; Psalm 19:1-6; Isaiah 40:22; Acts 14:17, 17:24-28). And what about people who know they are going to hell but make no attempt to change their lives in order to be saved? (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).

See what I mean? Something’s make no sense at all.

What Is a Hot Head?

What is a hot head? By now everyone has heard of the man who killed the young college bound student by road rage. A hot head is one who makes movements based on rage (Genesis 4:3-8; 2 Kings 5:10-12). A hot head is one who uses action first and thinks later (2 Kings 5:13-14; Gen. 4:13-15; Daniel 2:14-16).

A hot head is one who doesn’t think about the welfare of anyone other then self (Dan. 3:14-21; Luke 15:25-30; Jonah 4:1-9). A hot head is one who cannot accept the actions of others and just has to lash out at them (1 John 3:12; John 7:23; 2 Sam 19:41-43; Dan. 2:1-12; Luke 4:28-30; Acts 19:28-32).

A hot head is one who doesn’t care that the word of the Lord cautions against wrath (Matthew 5:22; Ephesians 4:26; Ecclesiastes 7:9; Psalm 37:8; Proverbs 27:4, 12:16, 27:3, 15:1; Eph. 4:31; Colossians 3:8).

And finally, a hot head is one who will wear a horrible scar to the grave because the consequences of wrath are life damaging (Numbers 20:7-12; Deuteronomy 1:37-38, 3:23-28).

Take Time To Care

In Genesis 4:9, Cain’s reply to the Lord’s question was, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” In other words, Cain was telling God, “it’s none of my business where he is, or what he is doing.” This was the don't want to get involved attitude. This attitude is still here, and that is why people can see bad things happening and do nothing.

In the last episode of Seinfeld, the four stars were sent to prison for not helping a man who was being robbed. They felt it wasn’t their problem so why concern themselves? Though the TV program was fictional entertainment, it showed a strong message.

The Bible teaches to care and not be like the two guys who refused to help a injured man as he lay in the road (Luke 10:30-37; Ezekiel 3:16-21; 1 Samuel 3:13; Proverbs 21:13; Deuteronomy 22:1-4; Galatians 6:1-2; Matthew 25:26-28; 1 Corinthians 10:24). This lesson isn’t teaching one to play super hero and rush up and fight an armed thug. But there is something we can do. We can call police or provide some other type of information—publicly or anonymously. We must take the time to cheer the sad, give food to the hungry, visit the sick, reach out to the needy. etc. (Gal. 6:10; James 4:17, 1:27; 1 Timothy 5:9-10; Acts 9:36-43).

You Can't Correct God

Can man judge God? (Job 40:1-5). Can the creation challenge the Creator?

“Why have you done this or why have you made me this way?” (Romans 9:20-22).

The answer is “no”! God is the creator of all things (Colossians 1:14-22). With that being the case, He is at liberty to do whatever He wants and in whatever way. Man cannot give himself life, and he is in no position to argue with his Maker. A man might be foolish enough to try and match wits with the Lord; but be assured that he will lose that debate (the book of Job, chapters 38, 39, and 40).

There have been those who read the Bible and second guessed something which the Lord does, and that isn’t showing respect toward their Maker. God isn’t man, and He is above our thinking (1 Samuel 15:28-29; Job 9:32; Isaiah 55:7-9). How is it that a person can think they can correct God? I ask this question; “do you have a better way than God and if so, what is it?” God is sovereign, man isn’t, so we best attempt to understand God rather than challenge His ways. We will not only lose, but will be judged by the Lord on the Judgment Day for acting so foolishly (Hebrews 4:13; 1 Corinthians 4:5).
